Certificate Course in Universal Treatment Curriculum (UTC) International Exams

Kenya Institute Of Business And Counselling Studies’ Universal Treatment Curriculum (UTC) International Exams is six months, full/ part-time, on-campus course that is offered by the School of Counselling and Social Studies. The course focuses on providing students with a broad base knowledge of substance use disorders and pertaining treatments. 

The Universal Treatment Curriculum (UTC) International Exams is designed to include the understanding of the physiology of addiction, substance use disorder treatment and mental and medical disorders and substance use disorder-related treatment issues. The programme provides students with an opportunity to look into the screening, assessment, treatment plan of patients. Students also gain an understanding of what a career in substance use disorder treatment looks like. 

After successful completion of the course, the learners will be able to take up roles in educational institutions, government ministries and non-governmental organizations. Graduates of Universal Treatment Curriculum (UTC) International Exams go on to become Substance Use Professionals, Addiction Professionals, Prevention and Addiction Treatment professionals and Addiction Monitoring Officers. Strong ethical principles, good interpersonal communication values and the ability to explore emotional issues with clients are some of the expected outcomes of learning this course.
