Moffat Bible College is a part of the Africa Inland Church, but welcomes students from other denominational backgrounds. The W.Y. Moffat Memorial Bible Training Institute opened on 11 February 1929, after more than a decade of planning. Founded by the Africa Inland Mission at its headquarters in Kijabe, the school was created for the purpose of training evangelists and pastors for the growing church in Kenya and publishing Christian material and Bible courses.

Moffat Bible College was fully registered as a diploma granting Bible College by the Ministry of Education of the Kenyan Government on April 9th, 2008 and was fully accredited for its Bible and Theology diploma program by the Accrediting Council for Theological Education in Africa (ACTEA) on March 26, 1999. Each student has one faculty member assigned as his or her mentor. Through the mentoring program and intentional personal contact between the faculty and students; students have the opportunity to work through family history, personal issues, walk with Christ, and spiritual gifts to become people of integrity and professional excellence wherever they serve in Kingdom work.

Moffat Bible College holds its chapel service on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9.45am to 10.30am. On Wednesdays the chapel period is dedicated to prayer and praise. Once per term there is a day set for prayer and another for missions. Classes are suspended on these special days. A communion service is held at the beginning and end of each term. Attendance is required at each of these events. Weekend challenge is an annual event that is organized in the college by the Spiritual Life department in collaboration with Sports and Admissions departments. The youth from within and outside Kijabe are invited to attend. It is held from Friday 7.30pm to Sunday 5pm. Various activities are organized including spiritual fellowships, sports fellowship and rally.

Moffat awards scholarships of various kinds, though each award considers the financial need and the general worthiness of the applicant. Academic scholarships are awarded on the basis of attained GPA to worthy students. The Principal's scholarships are awarded to worthy students at the Principal's discretion. Several scholarships are awarded by the Dallas Chinese Bible Church to worthy students based on need and the student's interest in missions. Some scholarships are awarded to worthy students simply based on financial need.

Moffat offers a three year Diploma and a one year Higher Diploma in Bible and Theology with the following Concentrations: Bible & Theology, AIDS Ministries, Pastoral Ministries, Counseling and Chaplaincy, Christian Education and Inter-Cultural Studies, training men and women for effective Christian Ministry in Africa and the World.
