ABOUT MEMON COLLEGE
Memon College was established in 1999, in Mombasa – Kenya. It is a non-profit tertiary educational institution, and is part of the Nasserpuria Memon Community. Memon college started as an Accounting and Basic Computing training centre. Over the years Memon College diversified into other programs. In 2013, ECDE was added to the institutions growing list of programs. This triggered the hunger for more programs in the school burgeoning portfolio.
A further testament to that was the partnership with ICDL that came on the tail end of 2016, this effort saw ICDL award Memon College with a Marketing Excellence 2016 Award. Later and for the local consumers, the institution introduced Accounting offered by KASNEB and alongside them Certificate and Diploma courses in IT by KNEC. Memon College was awarded a Silver Status from ACCA and became a CBE Centre for ACCA approved papers in 2018.
At Memon College admission is merit based and there is no bias against any group be it on basis of gender, nationality or religion. The applicant can register either electronically through online registration or by taking the hard copies to the administration’s office in Mombasa. The applications should be accompanied by supporting documents according to the course of interest. The institution is fraud sensitive and any malpractice or misrepresentation will be deemed intentional. One general requirement is for the applicants to have good oral and written English language skills.
The college’s academic year has two semesters running from Jan to June (semester one) and July to December (semester two). The college tries to provide a conducive and a student-centered learning environment. For this reason, Memon College endeavours to make the students time in college about academics and not social and environmental distractions. For those who are facing challenges in meeting their school fees obligations, the college has an active initiative for supporting the less fortunate. For those candidates that are more driven by sports, the institution prides itself of having a football team for males and a badminton club for the ladies.
Based on Memon College’s Strategic Plan, the institution is bound to unveil new courses in its portfolio. This is going to present learners with variety and most probably encourage a more specialised staff. Because the college is aware of the disruptions that come with having to start a course in one institution and culture only to go pursue another related course in a different set up, they are trying to broaden their programs by the day.
